Hope you’re well and enjoying Spring and all the goodie goodie things that come with it!
I’ve been enjoying the glorious sunshine and dressing up and wearing all my favourite dresses and Spring coordinates! ❀
I really love Japan for the seasons!
They are each very distinct and have their own charms! But Spring and Autumn are the most comfortable for wearing cute dresses and floral outfits! Summer is rather humid and winter requires a coat constantly~
Today’s post i’ll reminiscing about older collections of Yumetenbo during their Gyaru days! Specifically focusing on Hime & Hime-kaji styles!
(Warning, this post is picture heavy!)
Recently I have been feeling sooooo nostalgic to a few years ago when Gyaru fashion was still a popular thing.. When it was alive and thriving!
Unfortunately I only visited Japan for the first time in Summer 2013 - Summer 2014 then again in Autumn 2015~ when there was still essences of Gyaru fashion left in stores and sometimes girls dressing in the style to be seen walking the streets. However I never really got the full experience of real Gyaru life and styling when it was very popular during the 2000’s.
Gyaru and Japanese fashion is one of the main reasons why I wanted to come to Japan since I found out about it when I was around 14-15 years old.
(I received my first Japanese Fashion Magazine from a Japanese penpal! It was a popteen magazine!)
Now, its very rare to see Gyaru girls even walking the streets of Tokyo, in fact I can’t remember the last time I saw a fully styled Gyaru.. It must have been a fair few months ago!
And because its now a very niche style and not so popular anymore, its very hard to even shop for the kind of items I love as brands have also stopped selling the more unique and dramatic styles, and have changed to fit the more modern and mature tastes of young women.
Yumetenbo / Dream V during the Gyaru years was an absolute paradise for all styles and varieties of Gyaru styles. It catered to everyone; Hime, Himekaji, Agejo, Kyabajo, Kogyaru, Onee gyaru… etc.
When I found out about Yumetenbo, I lived in England and had absolutely no idea about shopping services, or other Gaijin Gyaru.. I just used to admire the items online and in the few magazines I owned wishing one day I would be able to enjoy fashion like girls in Japan do!
I was stunned by the models beauty, make up and hair styles also! This whole new world of fashion was a paradise for me! ☆
So as I’m feeling super nostalgic and used to love looking at the items that were available on Yumetenbo when I was a teenager, lets take a look at some of the amazing items they used to sell!
(I am focusing on Hime / Himekaji style items only in this post!)
Lets get started!
These are absolute bliss..♡
So many colours..! Bows.. Lace.. Frills.. Hearts.. And just.. So much cuteness!! *___* ❤︎
Items used to be so cheap too! So some of these heels would only have costed ￥2500. I know right??
I was always so surprised how many colours were available! Especially as in England, even just a light pair of shoes in white, light brown or pink was / is too hard to find..
Most of these pics are based on the bohemian Himekaji style, e.g. browns and western looking boots.
I love this style! ღ
Handbags are a necessity and important accessory for every girl and outfit.. Take a look at these babies..!
Ughhh..! So much beauty!! *__* ❤︎
I even love looking at the coordinates the girls match the bags with!
They had so many beautiful items styled like Liz Lisa; vintage florals, pretty pastel colours, shabby chic style florals the lot! Such lovely Hime style dresses! ღ
I can't believe how cute some of these dresses are! *Dies!* I used to dream of owning half of these.. It would be the greatest thing if this style made a come back.. I would not be able to control my spending habits! Well.. I can't really now anyway haha! XD
Skirts & Tops.. ❀
Absolutely love the winter style fashion of the past. Despite being super cold in Japan during winter, its still possible to look adorable as..! *Dream!* And it surprised me that girls could still wear pink and pastels in winter! England rarely has pastels even Spring and Summer, Autumn and Winter they just don't exist..!
So many photos of beautiful items, and this is just a small amount of photos I could find.. Imagine how the store was..! Gosh I miss shopping knowing that the next collection could feature lots of stunning floral dresses and shoes laced with bows, roses and frills! > <
I do / have owned very few of the items here or that were available at that time.. But they either got over used and had to be thrown, or I sold them or still have some amazingly!
I can still admire and use the old fashion styles as inspiration for my own style now!
I own lots of beautiful items which I can coordinate together to create my desired look which is great, but I do feel very sad that I came to Japan just as the Gyaru style is dying down..
I have to just enjoy it in pictures, magazines and the items I own! I already create and live in my own little world of fashion hehe! ❀
I always upload my fashion and outfits for the day on Insta so feel free to follow me if you don't already!
